INTRODUCTION

Rules for limitation of liability are included in the Commercial Code of Chile (Book Three) (the “Code”), with the exception of certain specific events such as the refloating, removal or destruction of a sunken, stranded or abandoned vessel including cargo on board, and damage to the environment, which are governed by the Navigation Law.
