INTRODUCTION
The LLMC Convention (Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims, 1976) was approved by France on 29 December 1979 and entered into force on 1 December 1986. The earlier Limitation Convention of 1957 (International Convention relating to the Limitation of the Liability of Owners of Sea-Going Ships), which had been incorporated into French law by the Law of 3 January 1967 was denounced in 1987, with effect from 15 July 1988.
