Edwards v Golding and others CA TLR 22 May

In defamation cases, a cause of action accrues on publication for limitation purposes even if the claimant was unaware of the identity of the relevant author until after the expiration of the one-year limitation period. If such a date falls outside the statutory period, the question arises of whether the court ought nonetheless to apply the discretion to extend time as granted by s32A of the Limitation Act 1980, as inserted by s57 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985.
