Pleural plaques

The APIL journal PI Focus has reported that hopes are high that prime ministerial intervention in the pleural plaques issue could finally lead to compensation for victims. When answering a question on pleural plaques at Prime Minister’s Questions in March, Gordon Brown said the Government was going to publish a consultation document ‘soon’. He added: ‘We have to do more to help the victims of mesothelioma and asbestosis’, declaring that the Government was determined to take some action. APIL says that although there is no indication when a consultation paper will be published, they are optimistic we shall see something ‘sooner rather than later’.
