I. INTRODUCTION

25.1 The number of veterinary negligence claims has risen sharply over recent years. It continues to rise. Some claims (particularly those involving the mismanagement of herd or flock problems, or the treatment of valuable horses), are financially very significant. Others (typically those connected with the treatment of companion animals), are tiny, and fall well within the small claims bracket.
