Discount for mortality

Crofts v Murton [2008] ALL ER (D) 25 (Sep) QBD

Where the court has determined, after hearing medical evidence, how long a personal injury claimant could be expected to live, it has already been taken into account the chances of dying earlier or living longer, and it would amount to a double discount for mortality if mortality were further taken into account in fixing the multiplier.
