Industrial deafness claim

A man has won £7,000 in compensation after an industrial deafness claim. He worked as a toughening operative and later as an inspector between 1971 and 1984. He was exposed to loud noise from toughening machines, furnaces, fans and compressed air lines. He was not given any ear protection equipment until the late 1970s. The claim was settled just before trial.
