MoD pays £186,896 in compensation
A lesbian soldier who sued the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for sex discrimination and sexual harassment has been awarded £186,896
in compensation. She alleged that a sergeant had harassed her for sex but she rejected his advances. He then subjected her
to harassment and victimisation over a long period, including disciplinary sanctions and refusing her demands for a transfer.
The award was made up of £30,000 in respect of injury to feelings, £20,000 for aggravated damages, £50,000 for exemplary damages,
and £65,558 for lost earnings and pension, plus costs and interest payments.
