Insurance Day
Ramon Cruz under scrutiny
THE PROPOSED insurance commissioner for Puerto Rico, Ramon Cruz, is to be investigated by the island’s senate (pictured) in
relation to allegations he was once penalised by the same agency he is now nominated to lead. According to local reports,
Cruz’s National Insurance Company, one of the largest across the Caribbean region, was fined $50,000 in 2007 because its assets
covered less than one-third of requirements for its $9bn in commitments.
