The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has a new chairman of its London market faculty board after David Gittings completed
his term in the role. Tokio Marine Global’s Adrian Ballardie has been named the new chairman. Ballardie is chief underwriting
officer at Tokio Marine Global and has been with the insurer since January 2005. Before this, he was chief executive at
Axa Re. The themes for Ballardie’s chairmanship will be supporting the CII’s professionalism drive within general insurance initiatives
and continuing the debate on some of the issues surrounding professional qualifications. Gittings spearheaded a number of
initiatives during his chairmanship, including supporting the CII on professional development, climate change, the competency
framework and the counter-terrorism event held with the Metropolitan Police.
