Assignment of property contract – rights and remedies

The assignment of a contract to purchase property is an everyday event. It is permissible unless the contract expressly forbids assignment. Readers will often come across clients who make a good deal and then wish to turn it for profit; or perhaps the client no longer wants the property and needs to dispose of it. Great care must be taken with the assignment arrangements and purchaser clients must be made fully aware of the consequences if the assignee fails to complete the transaction.
