M&A opportunities in Vietnam non life sector
VIETNAM’S non-life insurance sector presents attractive merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities for foreign players. Ewan
Patrick, director of financial advisory services for Deloitte Vietnam, told Vietnam News that the economic downturn was contributing
to a general M&A boom in the country. And he said the non-life insurance sector presented particular opportunities for foreign
interests. He also predicted the number of commercial banks in Vietnam was likely to reduce as a result of consolidation and
said telecommunications and oil and gas were all attractive. “Oil and gas is a very important sector for the Vietnamese economy
overall and I think the construction of refineries and the utilisation of more advanced technologies will be very positive
for Vietnam,” Patrick said.
