Deduction of holiday pay is unlawful

Ainsworth and others v Inland Revenue Commissioners H of L TLR 15 June

The Working Time Regulations 1998 had been made under the European Communities Act 1972 to transpose into national law the provisions of the Working Time Directive (Council Directive 93/104/EC) (OJ 1993 L 307/18). The Directive was intended to promote health and safety at work by, inter alia, requiring workers to be given paid holidays.
