Damaged ships under towage are generally subject to fresh contracts that need to be very carefully considered by their owners for the nature and extent of liabilities. It follows that their protection and indemnity (P&I) clubs are equally concerned as they may be asked to foot the bill. Extensive guidance for members has been provided by the UK P&I Club.
