£150,000 in compensation for botched hernia operation
A man who underwent a botched hernia operation, leaving him in severe pain, has been awarded £150,000 in compensation. Immediately
after the procedure he complained of severe pain, but the surgeon’s report concluded that there was no obvious indication
of negligence and a letter of claim was sent to the NHS Trust also, who denied any negligence. He eventually attended a different
hospital, and during an operation, the surgeon found a stitch that had apparently been placed around the inguinal nerve, from
the earlier hernia operation, which had cause the ongoing pain. The surgeon denied negligence but the claim was settled out
of court.
