£150,000 in compensation for car crash victim

An army officer who was seriously injured in a car crash within hours of returning from Iraq has won £150,000 in compensation, after the Ministry of Defence admitted liability. On flying back into the UK from the Middle East, a soldier had been detailed to collect the captain in the early hours of morning and drove him back to barracks, but the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The car crashed into the back of an HGV travelling in the same direction and the captain had to be cut out of the car by firefighters.
