HNS Protocol

The International Convention on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances by Sea 1996 was adopted as long ago as in May 1996 to provide a liability regime for damage caused by hazardous and noxious substances (HNS), inspired by the success of the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund.
