£40,000 in compensation for eye injury

A mechanic who was blinded in one eye when he was involved in an accident at work has received a settlement of £40,000 in compensation. Part of a machine he was working on broke off and struck him in the face, blinding him in one eye. He had not been provided with personal protective equipment and a health and safety claim was made to the employer.
