QANTAS GROUNDING UNLIKELY TO HIT AUSTRALIAN TRAVEL INSURERS
Travel insurers in Australia were not expecting a significant rise in claims as a result of Australian airline Qantas temporarily grounding its fleet at the weekend as part of an ongoing dispute with staff, reports insurancenews.com.au. Qantas is expected to reimburse on most claims, such as for accommodation, meals and transfer expenses. QBE said that it anticipated a significant number of affected customers. It had received a large number of calls over the weekend; additional staff had been brought in to respond to customers. Qantas flights returned to the air on Monday.
