FLEET VEHICLE INSURANCE MARKET WILL RESUME GROWTH, FINACCORD PREDICTS

The market for fleet motor cover across 10 European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK) was worth €15.8bn in 2011 – plus €980m for road assistance premiums – which was not much higher than it had been in 2007, according to market research consultancy Finaccord. However, the consultancy predicted that the total market would increase to €18bn by 2015, with prices rising to combat underwriting losses. Finaccord estimated that about 15.9m passenger cars could be classified as fleet vehicles across the 10 countries, with Germany leading the pack at 3.7m. France followed with 2.79m, while Italy and the UK were effectively joint fourth with 2.39m and 2.38m respectively.
