£4,750 in compensation for toe injury
A man who was injured when a piece of office furniture fell on him and damaged his toe has received £4,750 in compensation.
He was working as a night porter on the day of the accident, and was required to set up a conference room. In order to do
this he needed to move furniture from the store room. Furniture had been placed in the store room by members of staff during
the day some of which had not been safely stacked or secured. On entering the room a piece of furniture fell onto him and
landed on his left toe, permanently deforming the nail. He had been advised by the day shift manager that he would be provided
with safety shoes but he never received them.
