£27,000 in damages for leg injury

A man has received £27,000 in damages in an out of court settlement after he permanently injured his leg in an accident at work. He remains on painkillers and has been told he will never fully recover from the broken leg he suffered when he slipped on a clear sheet of plastic that had been left on the floor of the graphic design firm he worked at. He was signed off work for five months. Three years after the slip, he was admitted to hospital again as his broken leg wasn’t healing properly. He underwent surgery to have the original metal pin removed and replaced with one that was almost double in length. He still uses a walking stick.
