Litigation Letter
Money Claims Centre
A new County Court Money Claim Centre (CCMCC) comprising the National Business Centre based in Salford and the Contact Centre
based in Loughborough was established by the Civil Procedure (Amendment No 4) Rules 2011 (SI 2011/3103) from 19 March. The
rules introduce a new category of claim – a Part 7 claim for money whether specified (say fixed at £10,000) or unspecified
(say limited to £10,000) or both specified and unspecified and for which the CPR do not provide a special procedure. It is
called the designated claim. Amended PD7 (part of the CPR update 58) requires all designated claims – so, generally, all Part
7 money claims – to be ‘sent’ to Salford which will process in the name of the Northampton County Court. The CCMCC will not
be part of the production/bulk centre or money claim online. Salford will additionally handle requests for judgment, defences
and allocation questionnaires (AQs). All telephone calls for Salford will be taken at the contact centre in Loughborough.
A district judge and deputies will sit at Salford.
