ZURICH MEXICO PUSHING 30-DAY MOTOR INSURANCE CARDS
Zurich Mexico, part of Switzerland-based Zurich Financial Services, has announced plans to expand its Autotarjeta pre-paid motor insurance card. The product, costing 200 pesos and providing civil liability and medical expense cover for 30 days, is sold through pharmacy chains, online, and at its own offices. Zurich said that it intended to expand distribution to include local bank Banco Autofin. It said that it had sold about 15,000 cards so far. Only six states and the Federal District in Mexico make insurance for motor vehicles mandatory, and even there enforcement and sanctions are low.
