KENYA'S UAP USES NEWSAGENT SCRATCHCARDS TO SELL ACCIDENT COVER

Kenya-based insurer UAP has signed a deal with locally based Uchumi Supermarkets that will permit customers of the supermarket to buy personal accident insurance cover via scratch cards. The cards reveal a policy number which the customer sends by text message to the insurer. Cover is activated within 24 hours. UAP said that it was hoping for a million customers a year from the initiative.
