BMA reveals increase in soldiers’ cold injury claims

Soldiers suffering from cold injuries are making more claims against the government, according to the British Medical Association (BMA). Doctors were told that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) had paid out £9.7 million in damages to soldiers who had been injured by exposure to cold temperatures. BMA armed forces committee member Sarah Galbraith told a recent BMA civilian doctors conference that there had been 443 claims against the MoD for NFCI (non-freezing cold injury).
