Yes, lying to the regulator makes you not ‘fit and proper’

The regulator has salvaged some consolation from its disastrous – and on the face of it bizarre – defeat at the Upper Tribunal in its market abuse case against Mizuho International trader David Hobbs. In a second look at the matter, the tribunal has now directed the Financial Conduct Authority that Hobbs should be banned from the industry.
