PZU ACCUSES RIVALS OF COLLUSION
Polish state-owned insurer PZU has lodged a complaint with the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) that its rivals in the motor insurance sector have colluded in setting the price of third-party cover. The move is reportedly related to a bill introduced recently by the Health Ministry, which asked that insurers should co-finance treatment of car accident victims and pay 12% of third-party insurance premiums to the National Health Fund (NFZ). PZU noted that up to eight insurers said that they would be raising third-party premiums by more than 10%, and asked UOKiK to look into the matter.
