XL HIRES MIKE DAVIES AS NEW ASIA PACIFIC MARINE CHIEF UNDERWRITING OFFICER

XL has continued its marine growth drive with the appointment of a new leadership team for Asia Pacific, reports Insurance Day. Mike Davies has joined as marine chief underwriting officer for the region, with Ian Picton appointed senior upstream underwriter. Davies has joined from Zurich, where he was global head of marine underwriting. His new role will see him rejoin his predecessor in the Zurich role, Lee Meyrick, who joined XL as chief underwriting officer for global marine and offshore energy last year. Prior to succeeding Meyrick last July, Davies was Zurich’s regional head of marine underwriting for Asia Pacific. He also served as chairman of the International Union of Marine Insurance’s cargo committee from 2006 to 2011.
