On 8 March 2014 the vessel Yusuf Cepnioglu grounded on the Greek island of Mykonos becoming a total loss. The vessel was carrying cargo pursuant to bills of lading issued by the defendant time charterers. The proper law and jurisdiction of the bills was Turkey. Cargo claims were notified to the owner of the vessel and to the charterers, both Turkish companies.
