Geographical information extracted from a topographic map by a third party to be used to produce and market another map retained sufficient informative value to be classified as “independent materials” of a “database” within the meaning of art 1(2) of Parliament and Council Directive 96/9/EC of 11 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases (OJ 1996 L77, p 20).
