Defamation

Up or Down?

According to Matthew Rogers in the Solicitors Journal of 16 November, the number of defamation cases has “taken a tumble” with the Defamation Act as the driving force behind the drop, limiting the libel tourism and the ‘serious harm’ threshold making claimants think twice. However, Sarah Webb in the Law Society Gazette of 7 December thought the statistics “don’t tell the whole story”.
