Gamerco S.A. v. I.C.M.I Fair Warning (Agency) Ltd,1 is an illustration, par excellence, of the rather limited and arbitrary provisions contained in the Law Reform (Frustrated Contracts) Act 1943. The plaintiffs, a Spanish firm promoting pop concerts, agreed with the defendants, Missouri Storm Inc. (the corporate persona of the group Guns ‘N’ Roses), to promote the appearance of the group in Madrid on 4 July 1992. On 2 July, the plaintiffs were informed that the permit issued to use the particular stadium which they had booked had been withdrawn. The withdrawal of the permit was prompted by a report on 30 June
