It is ironic that the international capital market of the world should be placed in a country whose economy is mediocre and whose consequent capacity to supply the capital for that market is non-existent. It is even more ironic that the workings of that international financial market are practically unknown outside the comparatively small number of professionals who operate it. It is our great fortune that it is London that undoubtedly holds this international financial pre-eminence. It is, however, a mark of our lack of vision and intelligence that this good fortune is celebrated by general apathy and ignorance. The apathy and ignor-
