Shell Chemicals v. P. & O. Roadways

In Shell Chemicals U.K. Ltd. v. P. & O. Roadways Ltd.,1 the defendant road carrier agreed with the sender, the first plaintiff, to carry chemical A from Choques (France) to the refinery of the consignee, the second plaintiff, in Cheshire; this contract was governed by the CMR Convention.2 The carrier took chemical A as far as
