Verna Trading v. New India Assurance
In Verna Trading Pty. Ltd. v. New India Ass. Co. Ltd.,1 the plaintiff, Verna Trading, bought a quantity of blank video cassettes from a Hong Kong company and arranged for them to be carried from there to Melbourne by sea. The defendant, New India Assurance Co., issued a policy of marine insurance in respect of the cassettes. The cassettes were packed in a container and the ship carrying the container arrived in Melbourne on 4 December 1987.
