GODFREY LEAVES XL CATLIN TO HEAD MARKEL INTERNATIONAL CARGO TEAM

Ryan Godfrey has left XL Catlin to join Markel International, where he will head up the marine cargo team. Godfrey had spent the past eight years with the Catlin group, which was acquired by XL in 2015, having previously held positions at Allianz and Eagle Star. In his new role, Markel said Godfrey will focus on expanding the company’s broker relationships as well as consolidating and developing its existing cargo business. Godfrey will work under Markel International’s marine managing director Chris Fenn. In November, Markel announced the acquisition of Galleon, a managing general agent that specialises in marine professional indemnity and cargo liability business.
