ASCOT HIRES ANTES TO OVERSEE POLITICAL RISK TEAM

Ascot Underwriting has handed Ray Antes responsibility of its political risk team. Antes has joined from AIG Europe, where he served as senior vice president and chief underwriter for the political risk division. He also served as the division’s global profit centre manager. At Ascot, he will serve as executive underwriter with responsibility and oversight of the political risk team. Antes will join Ascot on June 1. Ascot already has a number of political risk and terrorism underwriters, with the team including Mike O’Connor, Matthew Eve, Nick Ridley, Jake Rugge-Price, Charlie Hickman, and Jessica Burton. Antes move comes six months after AIG announced the sale of its 20% stake in Ascot, which it helped found in 2001. Andrew Brooks, chief executive of Ascot, said Antes “pre-eminent position the market” would allow Ascot to expand its offering to clients.
