Psychiatric injury and bullying
Green v DB Group Services (UK) Ltd [2006] EWHC 1898 (QB)
Counsel: For the claimant: Robert Glancy QC For the defendant: Geoffrey Brown Solicitors: For the claimant: Mishcon de Reya For the defendant: Beachcroft Wansbroughs
G claimed damages for personal injury and consequential damage from her employer, D. She had worked for the defendants as
a company secretary assistant, but was admitted to hospital suffering from a major depressive illness. She did manage to return
to work on a part-time basis, but suffered a relapse and was unable to work again. G alleged that her psychiatric illness
was caused by harassment and bullying by fellow employees, who included a group of women employees and a male employee (P),
and by management failure to deal with the situation appropriately.
