Reform of the Coroner system

Progress is being made in the process of reforming the coroner system. The Minister of State for Constitutional Affairs, Harriet Harman, has announced that coroners will be given extra powers to recommend ways of preventing unexpected deaths. It is expected that measures will be introduced to enable coroners to pass on lessons learnt from preventable deaths to a chief coroner.
