Probe into insurer’s closed-book dropped – but five cases stay live

The Financial Conduct Authority has ceased investigating Police Mutual over its treatment of longstanding life insurance customers – yet probes into Scottish Widows, Prudential, Countrywide Assured, Old Mutual and Abbey Life continue. “No inferences should be drawn from the closure of the Police Mutual case concerning the continuing investigations,” said the regulator; decisions about the others have not yet been made.
