AIG NAMES LILLELUND AS HEAD OF NEW EUROPEAN UNIT IN LUXEMBOURG
Global insurer AIG has named Thomas Lillelund as chief executive of AIG SA, a new Luxembourg-based unit for its business in the European Economic Area and Switzerland. AIG said the new entity will provide continuity for its European operations following the UK’s departure from the European Union. Lillelund will report to Chris Townsend, AIG’s chief executive of international general insurance. Lillelund joins from Aspen Re, where he served as chief executive following a stint as regional managing director of its Asia Pacific region. Before joining Aspen Re, he had served as AIG’s regional vice-president in Southeast Asia. With Lillelund’s appointment, Anthony Baldwin, currently chief executive of AIG Europe Ltd, will become chief executive of the group’s new UK entity, American International Group UK, and report to Townsend.
