SWISS RE UK AND IRELAND CEO O'NEILL TO DEPART
Frank O'Neill, the chief executive of Swiss Re’s UK and Ireland business, is to leave the company. The reinsurance giant said O’Neill, who has led the unit since 2016, will depart on September 4 “to pursue an opportunity outside Swiss Re”. A search to find a successor has already been initiated. The UK and Ireland business is one of Swiss Re’s largest and most important business units. Peter Elliott, head of life and health for UK and Ireland at the company, has been appointed interim chief executive of the business, effective immediately. O’Neill joined Swiss Re in 1998 and has worked in a wide range of senior roles across the company, including regional head for south-east Asia and head of Africa and the Middle East. Russell Higginbotham, chief executive for reinsurance, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, at Swiss Re, thanked O'Neill "for his tremendous commitment and contribution" to the company. "We wish him every success in his future endeavours," he added.
