Under the microscope – the pathology of bribery

Dr David Shepherd (david.shepherd@port.ac.uk) is a senior research associate and Prof Mark Button (mark.button@port.ac.uk) is director of the Centre for Counter Fraud Studies, while Dean Blackbourn (dean.blackbourn@port.ac.uk) is senior lecturer and course leader with the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth.

What do bribery schemes, infectiousmicroorganisms and Swiss cheese have in common? A study of fraud convictions in England and Wales compared with Norway, analysis of ‘bribster’ types, as well as insights from the ‘pathogen network’ theory, yielded new lessons on preventing graft for David Shepherd, Mark Button and Dean Blackbourn of the University of Portsmouth.
