Leaving LIBOR – Bailey calls for immediate action from users

The head of the Financial Conduct Authority has announced that LIBOR – the benchmark that became the means of a notorious manipulation scandal – is not fit for purpose, and that planning as well as transition towards alternatives must begin right away. Interest rate benchmarks should be based on transactions, not on judgements, said Andrew Bailey in a 27 July speech at Bloomberg.
