New fire breaks out in Southern California as winds prompt rare warning

A new fire – the so-called Easy fire – broke out northwest of Los Angeles early Wednesday after the strongest Santa Ana wind event of the year prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue its first-ever “extreme red flag warning” for fire danger for most of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
