SELECTIVE NAMES MARCHIONI TO SUCCEED MURPHY AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE
US property/casualty insurer Selective Insurance Group has appointed John Marchioni as chief executive, with effect from February 1, 2020. Marchioni will succeed Gregory Murphy, who has served as chief executive since and as chairman of the board since 2000. Upon his retirement as chief executive, Murphy will assume the newly-created post of executive chairman. Since Murphy took the helm, Selective has generated total shareholder return of 1,081 % and raised annual net premiums to $2.5bn from $750m. Marchioni has been with the New Jersey-based group since 1998 and has served as president and chief operating officer since 2013.
