Vantage – FATF executive secretary viewpoint
Interview by Keith Nuthall.

Under the current Chinese presidency, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has had strong support for its desire to boost
the implementation of the AML/CFT policies and laws included in its Recommendations. MLB interviewed
FATF Executive Secretary
David Lewis to explore how his organisation has been pushing improvements to supervision of AML/CFT to ensure its expert advice delivers
on stemming proceeds of crime and terrorist finance flows. It spoke to him after the October plenary, when – among other decisions
– FATF members decided to increase pressure on Iran to comply with global AML/CFT standards, and threatened Pakistan with
punitive action, if it continued dragging its feet over complying with this global guidance.
