RegTech: the financial crime-fighting sidekick

A warning from the regulator about inadequate compliance protections around personal account dealing is a reminder of the benefits provided by automated assistance, suggests Patrick Conroy.

Regulatory technology, or ‘RegTech’, is often seen as the less exciting version of its trendy FinTech counterpart; the Robin to its Batman, if you will. But RegTech, which sits at the convergence of emerging technology and new regulatory requirements, can transform a firm’s compliance programme and protect the firm from evolving regulatory risk.
