Top of the insurance agenda

Earlier this year, London International Shipping Week 2019 enabled the global shipping community to converge on London for a week of events and debates. Quadrant Chambers held three legal forums including the marine insurance forum, chaired by Robert Thomas QC and held at Kennedys, which looked at three topics. Chirag Karia QC considered the implications of the decision in The Renos, Guy Blackwood QC addressed construction and causation in detainment claims and Ruth Hosking spoke on malicious acts

Malicious acts

The usual marine risks covered by policies include “malicious acts”. A number of recent cases have considered the types of claims which are recoverable as “malicious acts” with some, perhaps, surprising results.
